Economics & Reality 101 …Bio-Fuels and other MythsPosted by David Diego Martinez de Lopez | June 29, 2007Dear Derek and anyone else who’s in love with bio-fuel, Where pray tell did you drop in from, a pre-Columbian forest somewhere? If you find the site a bit hard to swallow, then may I suggest you try on the RINO suit I’m sure John McCain can provide you with since he won’t need his much longer. The GOP in Arizona will dominate the next election for a very simple reason, the voters want a party that stands for something and fortunately the Democrats still offer nothing. I’ll even bet you admire Bob Strain too, but back to the lesson. Clearly, you like the idea of stopping global warming and cleaning up the air a bit, right? Me too. Noble and lofty goals I grant you, but before you open your opinion and demonstrate to everyone just how much you don’t know, learn some basic economics and the politics of reality first ok? Education is a great thing so pay attention. In Europe, as I’m sure you know, a very large percentage of the electric power generated on the continent comes from non-polluting NUCLEAR power plants. Remember what mush-headed greenies did to that back in the 70’s for the United States? Another Green idea we’ve had to live with: No Nukes. And Europeans have trains, marvelous trains in spite of our bombing the-you-know-what out of them in WWII. And of course, these train sets run on electricity generated by clean nuclear fuel. Unfortunately, the U.S. ripped out their excellent inter-urban and urban mass transit infrastructures years ago while the greatest generation was busy out saving Europe. Everyone came home to a car instead. It’s just been that way since. Of course it helps to have a much smaller and compact landmass on which to move people about. Facts are Europe doesn’t have the same transportation needs that we are saddled with in the United States, where vast distances and huge mountains necessitate an interstate highway system. Additionally, most U.S. cities are young compared to their European counterparts and have had lots of vacant lands upon which to spread out, a luxury Europe hasn’t had since the Middle Ages. Is the “greener” policy you advocate to avoid global climate change Nuclear Power? That actually might really reduce hydrocarbon outputs while meeting the industrial worlds demand for power. China, India and Russia have ambitious nuclear development plans to insure their economies continue to expand. And how do you propose to get people out of their cars and onto mass public transit that doesn’t exist except in compact urban U.S. cities? Even in those locations, public transit is not economically viable and requires massive public subsidies. Look at the white elephant they’re building in Phoenix. Here’s a hint: It ain’t gonna happen – and big oil has noticed. Lets see how simple this old energy executive can make it for you. The green stuff in bio-fuel is derived from a form of corporate welfare called farm subsidies. Why are the corporations being subsidized for farming soybean oils; because on their own, bio-fuels suffer a poor cost benefit curve. Without government subsidies, the corporations would stop growing the stuff in a heartbeat. Markets create demand; governments simply subsidize those with the largest lobbying budgets. Since the U.S. heartland has stopped being the breadbasket of the nation, thanks to globalization, the major corporate farms had to find a way to make a greater return on the farmlands they stole from the family farmer in the 1980’s. Big government was the answer, and bio-fuels the scam. Have you ever noticed what happens to your engines fuel efficiency when you switch from regular gasoline to bio-fuel? Your miles per gallon falls through the floor and you need to buy 30% more fuel from the gas station to get the same mileage. Ask anyone who owns a duel fuel vehicle. But hey, that’s ok; we’re saving the planet right? In theory, if gasoline costs “x” per gallon, and you dilute it with soybean oils which are renewable and simple to grow, the price per gallon should decrease. Unfortunately that’s not how it works in the real world. As the U.S. demand for automobile fuels rises, the major oil corporations pump and transport less oil, they refine less gasoline, and they dilute with soybean oils that smaller amount refined gasoline to make up the difference and charge you more money than they do now moron! Its exactly what the old dope pusher of the 50’s did with smack, what the coke dealers of the 80’s did with cocaine, they cut the product with filler and jacked the price. The major oil companies are planning – with the aid of government sponsored corporate welfare – to do the same exact thing with automobile fuel. They’ve noticed that the demand for gasoline is inelastic (economic talk meaning that the demand continues to rise in spite of the prices asked for the product). So, cut the final product with filler, call it “green fuel” so the knumbskulls coming out of college think they’re saving the friggen planet, and charge more money! Since the filler in the fuel is subsidized by taxpayer dollars, everything that Big Oil collects is pure profit. You see Derek, those 9 big oil executives have been in bed with those 100 big US senate members for quite some time now, and in fact, this administration’s closest friends can be numbered from the ranks of big oil. Now, they can pump and refine less and charge more cause you’ll need more. Greed has no bounds and as the price of a gallon of gas demonstrates since the late 1970’s, big oil companies have discovered the ultimate consumer scam – after all, who’s gonna give up their car and take public transit??? In the meantime, hop in your econo-box hybred and just feel good about yourself since your getting a zillion miles to the gallon and saving the planet at the same time … only please stay in the far right lanes ok? All the Best - Zooming along getting 18mpg on the NAFTA Super-Slab from deep in Mexico to Kansas City at 80 mph and loving it! David Diego Martinez de Lopez Giuliani Opens Mouth Removing all Doubt … Unfit for CommandPosted by David Diego Martinez de Lopez | May 19, 2007
The second travesty called a
"debate" by Fox News highlighted the former New York City mayor’s lack
of foreign policy knowledge and more -- his lack of even reading the
911 Commission Report.
In diving for ratings, Rudy
Giuliani opened his mouth once too often under the national spotlight,
removing for all time his inability to be seriously considered for the
job of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States.
Blow-back versus Invitation
During the entire Q&A of the program, at no time did
Congressman Ron Paul refer to the people of the United States as
having invited the attacks of 911. But that minor detail didn’t deter
the former mayor who jumped at the opportunity to score some cheap
points. The only problem is the Internet has a very long memory and
the mayor’s gambit failed.
What candidate Paul did
say was that U.S. government policies and
actions over an extended period of time (not the American
people), created hostility in a region of the world with the means and
determination to strike back in anger – the word is “blowback”
What policies and actions? Let's
begin with nearly all that the U.S. has been involved with in the
Middle East since 1949. Some simple examples should be enough: Who
created the Shah of Iran whose demise led to the rise of the theocracy
of modern Iran? Who promoted and supported Saddam Hussein as a
military counterpoint to the Ayatollah
Khomeini in Iran? Who promotes and supports an unpopular monarchy in
Saudi Arabia (the birthplace of radical Islam)? These are just some
highlights of U.S. involvement that may have fomented
hatred in the region resulting in blowback.
It’s an elementary law of
physics that also applies to peoples; for every action there is an
equal and opposite reaction. Likewise, when stress builds up over
time, as in an earthquake fault, or an over 50’s heart the resulting
“reaction” is that much greater. In other words, the “blowback” is
that much greater. Would the actions of a large, powerful and often
arrogant nation elicit a reaction to the contrary of the laws of
physics?
Being glib of tongue, but dull
of mind with little reflection, Rudy appears to have little
understanding of foreign policy, since the art of diplomacy is the
understanding of blowback. Furthermore, it has been made strikingly
clear that the ex-mayor of NYC has not even bothered to read the 911
Commission’s Report.
Step aside, Rudy, you’ve already
lost the race. Up next time? How Jon Kyl and the amnesty for all
members of the administration have breathed new life into the campaign
of Cong. Tom Tancredo.
Police Play it Safe, Lives are Lost; Gun Laws Fail to Avert Virginia Tech Tragedy
Previous to Monday’s killings at
Virginia Tech, the deadliest campus shooting in U.S. history took
place in 1966 at the University of Texas at Austin, where Charles
Whitman climbed the clock tower and opened fire killing 16 people
before police shot him to death.
In contrast, this killer doubled
the kill numbers (32) recorded at the University of Texas in 1966, and
had time to eventually kill himself, all the while specially trained
police SWAT teams swarmed over the Virginia Tech campus.
Does anyone see something here?
It’s been over 40 years and
police tactics and policy have changed significantly. For starters,
police today are highly armed with some serious firepower, have
excellent radio communications and wear body armor. In 1966 most
police forces carried only .38cal revolvers and body armor was
unknown.
Why then did police in 1966
manage to stop a killer at 16 deaths while in 2007 a killer armed with
two handguns managed to kill 32 innocent victims without police
intervention? We all saw many armed police swarming over the Virginia
Tech campus.
Maybe police today only empty
their magazines into individuals who are easy to shoot? Maybe an armed
individual in a campus setting scares the hell out of the cops who
find it easier to maneuver around and hide behind police cruisers for
TV cameras rather than get after the business of ending the career of
the killer? Obviously this wasn’t the case in 1966.
Here’s another disturbing
question: Why, after finding two dead persons recently shot at the
coed dorm didn’t the police and the college authorities begin a
manhunt and seal off the campus? After all, didn’t they have “AN ARMED
AND DANGEROUS SUSPECT AT LARGE IN THE VICINITY” to apprehend?
It seems that both the
authorities and the college are culpable for not taking the most
elementary steps to insure that the gunman’s killing career was cut
short before 30 more innocent persons had been killed.
Lastly, where is the outcry
against all the gun laws that failed to save the lives of these 32
victims? After all, isn’t a college campus a “Gun Free Zone” with
strict laws to protect the students and faculty? It seems these laws
failed to save even one life today.
Now, if the campus had a
rational and simple right to carry rule, you know that someone with a
.45 would have taken him out before the death toll rose above two.
Imagine if students (and faculty) were allowed to take both gun
safety and shooting courses at school – the killer wouldn’t
have had a chance. Today’s death toll would in fact be at most, 2
The moral of the story is that
failure of police to act like police (of 1966) and the failure of gun
control laws have again resulted in the deaths of innocent
people. When will anyone learn; guns don’t kill people; people kill
people and 911 is simply government sponsored Dial-A-Prayer?
Future History - the
Dawn of the Dark Ages
Posted by David Diego Martinez de Lopez | April 10, 2007
The Dark Ages …
Under the Pope of Rome:
Two weeks ago, following public statements from the Vatican,
world scientists came to a consensus that the Earth is indeed
flat. Those of the minority opinion are being marginalized
presently. The political opinions of the Church on the physical
shape of the planet reflect absolute correct thinking on the
subject. From henceforth, all scientific decisions with economic
or social consequences will be made by unanimous agreement as very
likely.
The New-Dark Ages … Al Gore and the Religion of Environmentalism:Just last month, newly elected Arizona Congressman Harry Mitchell made the following statement: "Just a few weeks ago, in the findings of the International Panel on Climate Change, many of the world's most renowned scientists unanimously agreed that human activity is 'very likely' causing global warming. It's happening right before our eyes. Ice caps are melting.”
What in blazes is Mitchell
blabbering about? Ice caps are melting right before our eyes? Has
the man ever been on an Alaskan cruise?
Here, read Mitchell’s bovine
gas for yourself,
And here’s the
best: Mitchell is calling for an “Energy Independent Amerika”!!!
What a joke, Mitchell! I
know you’re old enough to remember 1978 when Iran was a problem
and we had an “energy crisis”. What the heck's changed in a
generation (except that our schools have dumbed down the kids and
indoctrinated them in politically correct thinking – which is not
to think!
It’s been nearly 30 years,
Harry, a full generation and energy prices – along with the
federal taxes on fuels – have increased nicely.
Bio-Fuel? Huh? You mean
fuel from grains? Here’s the scam peeps … they dump grain product
into your gas tank, your mileage drops by 40 percent and best of
all … they keep on increasing the cost per gallon! Does anyone now
have the pleasure of a “duel fuel” automobile? Then you know what
I’m talking about.
Meanwhile, Exxon and the Fed
make billions while Harry Mitchell schleps the same old carping on
Global Whining … enough of it, Harry, read some history.
The genius Mitchell goes on,
“…In Arizona, we are experiencing longer and more severe fire
seasons. Rain pattern changes and insect migration are destroying
our forests. As snow pack decreases in the Rocky Mountains,
Arizona feels the heat – literally.”
Suddenly Harry is a weather
expert? Give me a break Harry, cut with the bovine methane
already!
Think about this folks; the
planet is about 4 BILLION years old and dumb old humans have been
keeping weather records for what, maybe 200 years accurately?
Don’t suppose Harry and Al Gore ever heard of planet cycles? Or
the severe “global warming” that occurred in the Middle Ages? Yeah
that’s right folks, global warming with no automobiles or power
plants long before there ever was a United States.
How about this one; does
anyone remember back in the mid-1970’s when all the greenies were
crying about the Neo-Ice Age? Hmmm… Well, where is it?
In a full generation we’ve
gone from a new global ice age to a new global warming – which is
it, Harry? Have you consulted the Wizard of Al lately?
Never mind that science
requires facts that everyone can actually witness and attest to –
NOT a unanimous agreement!
What next, a unanimous
agreement that gravity varies with sunspots? Well, I suppose
anything is possible for Al Gore and his little green men.
Harry Mitchell? How about
representing Arizona and the problems – real problems – we face
day to day? Did voters really elect you so you could sell us more
snake oil on global whining?
Looks like you’re a one-term
member of the House, Harry … especially if you trust science by
consensus and continue your global whining.
From the Arizona Repugnant and the Insipid Flaky Congressman Jeffrey Posted by David Diego Martinez de Lopez | March 30, 2007
"This bill will end illegal immigration," said
Rep. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., the proposal's chief co-sponsor along with
Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill. He noted that a sweeping
immigration-reform measure adopted in 1986 did not accomplish that
goal.
A piece of paper, well actually a huge pile of paper, is going to
"end illegal immigration" according to the Flake from
Arizona. Really Jeffrey? Why doesn't this baby-faced numbskull find
some blocks to play with? Maybe that'll end illegal immigration too?
KEEP THIS IN MIND: THE EASIEST WAY TO MAKE SOMETHING ILLEGAL LEGAL
IS WITH A PEN... but that doesn't really change what it is, does it?
But lets read on ... here's the
link
if you like,
Supporters of immigration reform believe they have their best chance of passing legislation in years with Democrats in control of Congress and the White House pressing hard for GOP allies to sign on to the bill.
White House? GOP allies (translation? McCain & Kyl folks)
Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., is still talking with Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., his chief partner on immigration reform in recent years, but they haven't come to an agreement. A McCain spokeswoman said McCain was glad to see the new bill introduced.
And here's the best for last: McCain and Teddy in the same line ...
again. How about in the same PARTY? You bet -- political bedmates
gratifying each other at your expense and keeping the Bush promise
to the people of Mexico on schedule.
Mark this one: Jon Kyl is to be the "compromise" broker - Jeff Flake
is the stupid water boy for Teddy and John ... big business gets
what it wants from the Bush ... and YOU? <laughing> Well, you get
the shaft ... again.
Senator Kyl's Employment Extension Act of 2006 Posted by David Diego Martinez de Lopez | March 28, 2007
Arizona, how did you vote on those ballot measures involving illegal
aliens and benefits?
Republicans of Arizona, did you work hard to elect Jon Kyl? Did he
visit your town and speak of illegal immigration reform and closing
the border?
This is from
Robert
Novak's column for the week of March 21, 2007.
Okay, AZGOP, what do you think now? Our state is over-run, our prisons
are full, our treasury can't meet the demand for benefits made
by illegal aliens - yes folks, that's what they are; that is
the legal definition of someone who enters the United States without
permission or papers: ILLEGAL ALIEN.
Are these the folks who pick lettuce? Hardly. Agriculture workers
account for less than a small percentage of the illegal aliens now
residing in Arizona. The facts is that many earn more than minimum
wage and as is often the case, the unmarried spouse and her dependents
are on our welfare systems.
Look at the Arizona Chamber of Commerce support for "guest workers"
and compare it to Senator Kyl's betrayal of our trust.
It is Senator Kyl who will carry the George Bush promise to the people
of Mexico to open our borders to their entry.
What? You didn't hear Bush make that promise to the people of Mexico
on Fox News? Well here,
look at it for yourself:
MERIDA, Mexico (CNN) -- President Bush
vowed Tuesday to do all he can to push for changes in U.S. immigration
laws, and stressed that he and his Mexican counterpart, Felipe
Calderon, were working together on immigration issues.
"My pledge to you and your government -- but more importantly, the people of Mexico -- is that I'll work as hard as I possibly can to pass comprehensive immigration reform," Bush said at a ceremony welcoming him to Mexico. "Together we're working to ensure that we have a secure and modern border that speeds the legitimate flow of people and commerce ..." Bush said.
I hope you notice the keywords above, "... flow of people and
commerce" That's what this debacle of a North American Union is all
about, MONEY for LARGE MULTI-NATIONAL CORPORATIONS ... just like that
little democracy building action in the middle east.
Listen to Pink Floyd's Money and pay your taxes on April 15th
to support Senator Kyl hiring more staff to sell you on open borders
and making something illegal legal.
CALL SENATOR KYL AND THANK HIM FOR SELLING YOU OUT.
They say they are taking a poll. DC,
