NEWS & ANALYSIS

The Arizona Conservative Featured Thursday on Arizona Republicans and Political News

By Jan Paul Burr
March 22, 2006

The “Arizona Republicans and Political News” forum is dedicating tomorrow’s “Daily Chat” to “The Arizona Conservative” and the work they are doing to educate Arizona’s voters to the issues that are so important to Arizona.

However, I am afraid much of the nation is sliding further away from our conservative values and those that aren’t sliding away are becoming more and more angry with the Republican party. Not only on Arizona Republicans and Political News, but on GOP headquarter’s blog and GOPUSA’s forum.

This was in a recent article on http://www.mfc.org/contents/article.asp?id=633

“Close to half of conservative adults call moral conditions poor, compared with 36 percent of moderates and just 29 percent of liberals.”

The article also said, " The poll found that large differences in perception exist at the negative extreme between older and young Americans. “A majority of older Americans describe moral conditions as poor, compared with only one-quarter of the very young Americans polled,” stated a Gallup poll analysis. “Those in the 18-to 29-year-old age category are more likely to express a tempered negative view, saying moral conditions are ‘only fair.’”

However, the "conservative base" is having a hard time accepting the fact there are so many Republicans that apparently are more and sometimes, much more moderate than they are. They are angry at our politicians for not listening to them

Recently, in my “Sound off” category some of that rage was expressed. The feeling that the Republican Party has abandoned us on immigration seems to be one of the main catalysts for this rage. However, there is more in the lack of control on spending and on other moral issues. Much of this rage is justified but there is also many underlying problems that the Republican Party has to be concerned with when dealing with these issues.

One of the largest is the obstructionist tactics the Democrats use and just how “conservative” we can be and still win elections in “battleground” or should I say, “moderate” states. The "base," especially those of us in states like Arizona have trouble separating a "national" more "moderate" mindset from the more conservative view here in Arizona.

We have to concentrate on keeping our representatives loyal to us and do the best we can in the other states. We can't control what voters in others states do. That is why your work, and hopefully, mine, are so important to keeping this state on the "conservative front."

With RINO’s joining Democrats on any issue they feel is “too conservative to win in their state,” we are driving the base away in the states that are conservative, I am afraid. Compound that with the Supreme Court (see http://azrepublicanissues.forumsplace.com/message285.html ) and Federal Courts like the 9th Circuit we have the formula for every principle this nation was founded on.

It is my hope that you will encourage as many of your members as possible to add their comments, concerns and suggestions to the Arizona Republicans & Political News and refer as many people as possible, to your site with their comments in the forum. The ability to ask questions and share opinions is one of the best ways to have “informed voters” who understand how important “Conservative values” are to the future of Arizona and this nation.

I am appalled by the number of young people who don’t even know we have a State Constitution, or what the “original intent” for the Federal Government was. The overall ignorance of our political history is a sad commentary on how distorted our educational system has become due to the gathering strength of socialism over the last 70 years.  That is why I created a category on the State and U.S. Constitution for articles that will educate voters on Constitutional issues.

I will continue to try and direct people to your site. I have "The Arizona Conservative" as a link in my “Useful Links” category. I will continue to give credit to your organization when I use leads to articles you have found. However, the best way would be to have your members posting articles and comments daily that refer people to your website. The more we educate voters, the more likely they will demand conservative values in their representatives in government.

Also, maybe your columnists that write for your site would like post articles (just a lead paragraph or two) and link readers to your site for the rest of the article.

Thurs. Mar. 23, We highlight "The Arizona Conservative"

First a big thanks to all who are working so hard to make this forum a success. Our users have posted a total of 618 articles. While some articles have had many comments, some haven’t. Whether that is because they “answer your questions” or don’t stimulate comment doesn’t matter as much as the fact they present information we may not have had otherwise. However, we certainly encourage everyone to comment on the articles, their accuracy, what questions they leave unanswered, any bias they present or anything else that comes to mind.

Today, we highlight “The Arizona Conservative” and the work they are doing to educate the voters of Arizona. The members of “Arizona Republicans & Political News” began with that purpose. Only when voters are aware of and informed on the issues that affect our state and nation, does government work well. Each day, “The Arizona Conservative” adds new articles that are important to the voters.

In order to highlight the work they are doing, we will feature some of the topics they are covering with a short lead and a link to their site and the article. We thank “The Arizona Conservative” for their efforts and will probably be featuring them again in the future. Hopefully some of their members will join us in making comments on the articles they offer so we can share the questions or knowledge we have on the issues their articles cover.

The first article that is in “Arizona Campaigns” is “Montgomery Says Attorney General Failing to Represent Arizona”

http://azrepublicanissues.forumsplace.com/message282.html

"It is appalling that the current attorney general has completely abdicated his duties and responsibilities to defend the State of Arizona in cases where the state has an interest as required by Arizona law."

Next, we move to the category “Az. Borders/Immigration issues” and the article “Illegal felons: They're heading your way.”

While the article is from “World Daily Net,” I wouldn't have been aware of it except for the work of "The Arizona Conservative." One of the goals of this forum will be to help people find the organizations that are working to inform voters of important issues.

This comment from the article says a lot. “That means 22 percent are "OTMs" – in border parlance, "other than Mexicans." That means the rest of the world. Terrorists? Maybe.

http://azrepublicanissues.forumsplace.com/message283.html

“Iran Threatens U.S. Over Nuclear Program.” Iran is a new threat in the “war on terror” category that “The Arizona Conservative” had an article a few days back. They have a good range of articles and keep them on their site for several days. Thus, if you miss a day or two, you can always go back and review the articles you missed.

Touching on “Immigration” and the illegal side of it, we posted the article “Wiley ‘coyotes’ win U.S. Border Battle.”
“The Arizona Conservative found this on at “Times Online”

http://azrepublicanissues.forumsplace.com/message286.html

Naturally, other articles are on the site, like the new one in “Court Issues” titled, “Criticism Of Supreme Court Critics And Of The Supreme Court,”

http://azrepublicanissues.forumsplace.com/message-285.html

We really wanted to promote “The Arizona Conservative” because of all it is doing to keep important issues in front of us.

So, with a “tip of the hat,” we salute "The Arizona Conservative" for a job “well-done.”
