Our Endorsement for President Goes to: Mitt Romney

Conservative We would like to have a purebred, thoroughbred conservative to recommend for the upcoming (Feb. 5th) Arizona primary. However, we don’t have that luxury. We still believe that some good can come from this year’s presidential election. In arriving at our endorsement, let us begin by eliminating those who do not measure up to America’s needs. First, we must eliminate all the Democrats. Each one is a Washington insider who contributed to the problems facing this nation: loss of freedoms; overspending; discounting the value of life, marriage and family; contributing to a culture of death; refusal to block the border invasion; inability to curb crime; and the failure of the nation’s public education system; among others. None of the Democrats ever managed a real business, and it’s doubtful any of them ever even really ran a family. Mrs. Bill Clinton is a cold, dishonest, disingenuous Clinton socialist and is a Planned Parenthood/NEA pawn. She won’t do. Sen. John Edwards is a hollow, big government socialist. He won’t do. Sen. Barack Obama is a hollow, big government socialist. He won’t do. Now let’s turn to the Republicans. We must immediately dismiss Arizona Sen. John McCain, the poster boy for the amnesty movement. He has been on the wrong side of virtually every social issue, and he speaks a pro-choice message. His temperament is disturbing. McCain said he supports tax cuts, except for the ones he voted against. He legislates with liberals and has shown disdain for values-voting conservatives until sucking up to them in recent months in an attempt to use them for their votes. McCain’s actions in the Senate have directly challenged the First and Second amendments to the Constitution. He undermined former Sen. President Bill Frist and attempts to affirm judicial nominees. Only 9-11 saved the senator from a huge recall effort in 2001. No one has done more to divide the GOP on a state or national basis. He is the wrong man at the wrong time, and he has been disastrous for this nation. Mike Huckabee’s record as a tax raising governor in Arkansas is especially troubling. He also wanted to reward law-breaking border invaders with educational scholarships. Huckabee, Phyllis Schlafly said, destroyed the Arkansas Republican Party. Furthermore, Huckabee is a poor example of a pastor and a Christian, displaying pettiness on the campaign trail that one would expect him to rise above. We would not choose him for our pastor, let alone the presidency. Fortunately, Huckabee is running out of money and hopefully this populist storm will blow over. He would not make a good president. Rudy Giuliani is a New York RINO who opposes the Republican Party on marriage and special rights for special sex interests groups. His campaign strategy has shown a flaw in his management style. We don’t need a girly-man president marching in homosexual parades; we need a president who realizes how intact, healthy families stabilize society. Giuliani is pro-choice and does not respect the sanctity of human life, which is a starting point for conservative decision-making. No, Rudy. Cong. Ron Paul has championed many good issues, but he has a wacky Libertarian streak in him that is a turn-off. The Constitution has been defended equally well or better by full-fledged conservatives. He can do more good for the country by staying in Congress. Paul’s conduct in the debates has been disappointing, and he has a hard time shaking off the many “black helicopter” supporters he attracts. He is not a man who inspires conservative thinking and certainly doesn’t seem up to the heady task as president. Sorry, Ron. That leaves Mitt Romney. The former governor of Massachusetts disappointed conservatives by previously running as a calculating politician -- and a liberal at that – just to get elected in a liberal state. We prefer to see people run as a conservative and educate people on the wisdom of conservative principles. The whole point of championing conservative views is to win converts, and Romney is our biggest success story. He has come around to conservative views that are palatable, and he can never switch back to liberalism. If he did, his political career would be over. Flipping can only endure one exercise in politics, and he is stuck over here with those of us who care about pre-born children and the value that marriage offers to society. Romney is a fiscal genius, and he can be trusted to turn the Executive Branch back in the right direction. He would be the smartest president we’ve had since Ronald Reagan, and he might be the most successful businessman to serve in the Oval Office. Romney is big enough to admit he was on the wrong side in the past and that he is on the right side now. Out of all the remaining candidates, he elicits the most trust and respect. We think he is worth our vote on Feb. 5th and endorse him as the most deserving candidate in the Arizona primary. We recommend that Republicans nominate him to represent the party in the general election. |
