Candidate Interview
Steve Yarbrough: State House of Representatives Ed. Note: State Rep. Steve Yarbrough is running for re-election to the Arizona House of Representatives in Legislative District 21. The Arizona Conservative (TAC) conducted an interview with Rep. Yarbrough (SY) about the 2004 election: Questions
TAC: How do you rate your chances of
election in the September primary?
SY: Reasonably good but with the former executive director of WISH as an opponent I assume a tough contest.
TAC: How competitive is the race in your
district?
SY: I presume it to be very competitive.
TAC: What are you hearing from the
people of your district as you campaign?
SY: Improve education, don't raise taxes, and address however we can the flood of illegal immgration.
TAC: What are the major issues facing
the state in the next year?
SY: Resisting the coming attempt by the Governor to raise taxes and not again growing government faster than dramatically increasing state revenue. We also need to enchance school choice opportunities.
TAC: If elected, will you fight the
governor to hold the line on increasing taxes?
SY: Yes.
TAC: What is your view of this year's
state budget, which increased 13 percent in a down time?
SY: It was irresponsible and I voted no.
TAC: If elected, will you support
Informed Consent/Woman's Right to Know legislation in 2005?
SY: Yes, I
worked hard to pass that bill and will continue to fight for legislation
which is both pro-woman and pro-unborn children.
TAC: Do you consider yourself pro-life?
SY: Definitely.
TAC: Do you support or oppose the ballot
proposal to get rid of funding for Clean Elections?
SY: I support it.
TAC: Do you support or oppose the
Protect Arizona Now initiative?
SY: I support it.
TAC: Do you support marriage as between
one man and one woman?
SY: Yes.
TAC: How do you foresee the presidential
election in Arizona? Will Bush or Kerry win the state?
SY: I believe the President will prevail.
TAC: Will judicial reform in Arizona go
through any time soon?
SY: Unfortunately this is one that may take as long to advance as informed consent did.
